Photo movie competition “Still Story”
TALLINN CULTURAL CAPITAL 2011 AND TALLINN MONTH OF PHOTOGRAPHY PRESENT PHOTO MOVIE COMPETITION “STILL STORY”
Tallinn Month of Photography is happy to announce an invitation for artists, photographers and filmmakers as well as students to take part in the photo movie competition. The subject of the competition is “Still story”.
Traditional film is considered to be a sequence of pictures that lasts just as long as an eye-blink. In the case of the photo movie however, the illusion of reality is interrupted. How do we perceive a story if one still frame lasts five seconds or even five minutes? What kind of additional value does the story achieve if we step out of the usual scenario – “24 frames per second”?
We are expecting exciting and unconventional stories that are best told through the medium of photo movie.
Deadline for competition: August 15, 2011
Maximum length: 15 minutes
The competition will be judged by a jury of professionals.
The most distinguished films will find their place on the Still Story DVD and are going to be screened during the Photo Movie Festival at cinema “Sõprus” on October 14th, 2011 as an official part of the Tallinn Month of Photography.
The Grand Prize is awarded by Canon, 2nd and 3rd prizes by Overall Eesti AS. A number of special prizes will also be issued.
